Sukhotai & Ayuthaya

So here are a few photos I thought I would share with you all of some ancient temples from the Sukhothai and Ayuthaya period in Thailand. We visited these two sites in central Thailand and in tombraider style cycled through the silent ruins in the Thai heat! Very cool to see such old structures and many of them still intact. The style is similar to the Angkor Wat ruins in Cambodia but pleasantly minus all the hundreds of tourists, so it was just us and the ghosts of the past (and a few other fellow tombraiders!)

Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand

Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand is a very cool place. After a somewhat long and delayed 17 hour train ride from Bangkok we eventually arrived in this cultural hub of Thailand. During our stay we did a fair bit of temple spotting, loads of shopping at the various night markets and enjoyed an amazing Thai cookery class on an organic farm cooking up a storm making my favourite Thai dishes, amongst them Pad Thai and Cashew nut chicken finsished with delicious sticky rice and mango. (P.S the guy making the spring rolls is my gorgeous fiance, Sven who is a great cook - bonus!) The other 'cultural' Thai tradition we had to take a look at was Muay Thai boxing which was pretty interesting, and of course there were plenty of ladyboy waitresses serving up Chang beer!

Halong Bay, Vietnam

Halong Bay, situated just off the North East coast of Vietnam is amazing! We hopped on a traditional wooden junk style boat for a 2 day sail around these massive limestone cliffs and soaked up a bit of sun! Check out the cute but cheeky monkeys that we met on monkey island! Just a few pics to share with you all as the scenery was all pretty similar but still beautiful :) Enjoy xx
